Same situation as yesterday. You are not good enough, you suck, I want my money back, I can't believe you stay in business, then he called my other client to find out where I was.
Wow! What a freaking night mare.
Clients like this guy is the reason why I am out of the bookkeeping business.
15+ phone calls. Each one of the phone calls getting worse and worse.
I did the work he asked me to, the problem was that on the original jump drive, I did not give him .pdf copies of the profit & loss reports. My bad. I tried to fix it, but because he was in such a tizzy, I accidently sent him the wrong data, AGAIN! I did exactly what I hate doing, going to fast, trying to people please and get myself out of trouble.
In his box was the original documents he needed, including the PDF's (hard copy). But he is just too lazy to go look in the box.
What I hate is that I then re-sent him the incorrect data file. I should have sent him the data file from the 2013 Year End/QuickBooks/Joe Puente. I sent him the Joe Puente file that was backed-up on 10/31/2013. Which is a habit I got into when working with clients. Because I was in a hurry, I did not dig deeper. If I would have looked at the bank accounts I would have seen right then and there what I did. I did have the correct file (s), the complete reconciled files, but on a different part of my portable hard drive.
I screwed up 2 times, by getting him the information. I did not screw up the information, regardless what he says.
The thing that floored me beyond belief was that he called Scott O'Connor of Hutto Fast Lube and yelled at him or told him what was going on between me and Joe. Talk about unprofessional. Scott O'Connor texted messaged me, stating that Joe was looking for me and that I had better return his phone call.
I politely asked Scott to back out of it, that what was going on between me and Joe, did not concern him and that I would appreciate him staying out of it. Scott agreed. Talk about running your mouth all over town, did not set well with me. How childish.
What was even worse, was Joe demanded that I send him his information overnight. I asked him if he was going to be at his office between 8 - 10:30 because the package was going to be delivered (guaranteed) by 10:30 and that he had to be there to sign for the package. I was not going to leave the package at his door or have someone sign for it and be able to get to his vital information, that was the whole reason why I wanted to hand deliver it to him. REALLY!!! REALLY!!
At 1:57pm on 2/18/2014, Scott O'Connor of Hutto Fast Lube 512-496-8042 text messaged me with the following statement:
Hutto Fast Lube: "What is up with Joe. He called me asking me to have you call."
Tonja Wheeler: "I'm sorry he called you. Please do not get involved. What happens between me and Joe does not concern you. I am dealing with personal issues right now. My phone only works in town because the tower near my mothers house was hit by lighting. I have very limited service right nie" (sent 2:14PM)
Tonja Wheeler: "Now. I just received all of his voice mails and I am not in a position to call him back." (sent 2:15PM)
Tonja Wheeler: "I will call him as soon as I have a working line." (Sent 2:16PM)
Hutto Fast Lube: "I agree. Don't want any part of it." (Sent 2:46PM)
Tonja Wheeler: "Thank you. I've done my job." (Sent 2:50PM)
This is my copy of the e-mail sent to Joe on 2/18/2014 sent 4:54pm.

Joe:
1) You are correct, the reports I attached to you in the Monday, February 17, 2014 e-mail are NOT correct.
REASON:
When I would work on your books, I would back up your files to my portable hard drive. When I received your messages yesterday that you did not have the information you needed, I went to my portable hard drive and pulled up JOE PUENTE file. Which was last saved on October 2013, which is the P&L Reports you received yesterday and are now calling BS.
The file I should have gone to was 2013 Year End Files/Quickbook/Joe Puente to obtain the data that was entered and finalized on 12/31/2013 and those were the files that were sent on the original jump drive. The problem with the first jump drive file, it did not have a digital (.pdf) copy of the Profit & Loss Reports. The P&L reports on the original jump drive are as of July 31, 2013. You had asked that I e-mail those reports to you so that you and your CPA could review what I was doing. Since I never heard another word from you, except to tell me you received them and you were looking at them. Since I did not hear from you regarding the P&L reports as of 7/31/2013, I continued on with the data entry.
The P&L Reports as of 12/31/2013 were printed and I put them in your box for you to review when you returned from your travels. What I should have done yesterday, Monday, February 17, 2013 was save a (.pdf) copy of the Profit & Loss Reports in my 2013 Year End Files/Quickbook/Joe Puente and send them to you instead of the BS P&L Reports you are currently looking at. I agree, they are incorrect along with the 2nd jump drive (green & white) the one that was over night delivered to you on Tuesday, Feb 18, 2013 is no good to you for the reason explained above.
I put the correct information on Jump Drive 1. I have put the information in your box. I did my job completely, accurately and to the best of my ability given the information provided from your many bank statements and credit card statements.
Now, if you would like, after you review the attached Profit & Loss reports ending December 31, 2013, you will see that the Property Taxes paid in 2013 were recorded in 2013. If you have property taxes that were paid in 2014, they will not reflect in the attached P&L reports because they were paid in 2014.
If you can give me more information as to how I butchered your books, please put your concerns in writing and I will try to address each accordingly. At this point, I am so disappointed that you would jump to the conclusion that I would take what was not rightfully earned. That I would steal from you and do a half/baked job. My reputation is just as valuable to me as yours is to you. Scott would have never sent me to you if he thought less. As far as I am concerned, my work is good. It is correct and you NOW have what you need to give to your CPA. If you would like, I have already re-downloaded a 3rd copy of the data files for you. I can have them Fed-Ex to any address you deem fit.
2) To address the multi-phone calls I received:
The reason why I had to call you from a Tennessee land line on Monday, February 17 to discuss the accounting issues, was because the Verizon/AT&T/cell tower was struck several times by lighting 2 weeks ago during a major storm. Verizon/AT&T/cell tower is not due to be fixed for another 6 weeks. This means that I have spotty cell service at best. Because my mother has Direct TV Internet, this is how I can send this e-mail to you. When I talked to you Monday on my cell phone, I was in Lewisburg, TN where I could get cell service. I did not get the 6+ messages until 2:30 pm today, Tuesday, February 18, 2013 while in town to get prescriptions. If I were you, I would be mad and upset because I would think the same thing you were saying. I am/was not/will not ignore you. When I did get your messages today, I was unable to return your phone calls due to the personal situation I was in. After I called you to give you the Fed Ex Tracking number, I was driving home to my mother's house and lost sight in my left eye. It went black. I could not see to drive. I was able to get to the local hospital which was two blocks from the Fed Ex drop off.
It was determined that my blood pressure was up so high that a blood vessel in the back of my eye burst and it was bleeding. The ER doctor was able to lower my BP and LUCKILY I will not loose my eye sight in my left eye. It was determined that my sudden rise in BP was a side affect from a steroid shot I received in January to help get over the flu/bronchitis. It did not help that my diabetes numbers also shot to over 300 at the same time. My mother/step-father had to come and get me from the hospital and I was not released until 2:30 am today. I am still having difficulty reading clearly. I can close my left eye and see with my right, but it is hazy. I am not allowed to drive until next Monday after the eye doctor gives me clearance to drive and I have been advised to keep my sugars and BP down. I was unable to make a call in the hospital, due to their rules and the only person(s) I could call was immediate family.
I find it very un-nerving that you would contact Scott O'Connor to hunt me down.
Lastly, due to the tone you took with me on Monday, February 17 and the 6+ calls after, accusing me of "butchering your books, doing a bad job and how can I stay in business for as long as I have with the way I conduct business" was totally un-called for! Again, I have already verbally explained to you the situation with Jump Drive 1. I tried to fix it with Jump Drive 2, which was Fed-Ex to you by the time I told you it would be delivered. You were not there to receive it. It was then delivered to you later in the day. I have explained the situation with Jump Drive 2, but I am willing, yet again to do right by you and deliver a third copy of the information to you. Please let me know what address I can have Jump Drive 3. I can have FED EX pick up from my current address and have it delivered to you.
My work was completed and accurate the day you last paid me and I would not have collected from you unless it was completed and accurate the day I delivered it to your offices.

Joe:
Attached are the Profit & Loss reports for:
Aus-Tex
Jose & Rose Puente
RBJE Holdings
RJ Commercial Holdings
Each will show you exactly how much Profit was made and how much Expenses were incurred for each business.
Jose & Rose Puente reports shows you how much as a family you transferred from the companies, the ranch, investments and Rose's income and how much was spent against the money put in your bank account.
All information was pulled from your bank accounts and credit card statements and were put in the Standard Accounting System used by bookkeepers, accountants and CPA's.
The Excel file that is labeled "Estimated taxes PEP & PEASE J. Puente was an estimate I did this summer based on information of "IF" your company did "X" or "Y" in gross income. I only left that information for "information" purposes. IT has nothing to do with what was actually done in 2013. It was a "IF" this happens, this is what "Could" happen. I tried to explain it to you this summer. This information should NOT be given to the CPA because he will not know what to do with it!
Again, if your CPA has any questions or if you have any questions regarding the "Profit & Loss" reports, I will be happy to visit with you in regards to the information.
I cannot tell you how much tax you owe because you have not asked me to do the tax returns. The information I have provided you in the attached information is for the CPA. PDF copies have been made of every piece of paper you have given me and it was copied in PDF form for the CPA so that if he needed a certain document, he could pull that information directly from the jump drive so that you would not have to go dig for it yourself.

My income for austex is incorrect, This is a poor job on your part please return the fees have I paid you: you have not done your job. If you need the money that is a bad thing you have not provided the the services I paid $6,000 for. I should not have to check your data to make sure it is correct. You have no same & I am telling everyone I know what you have have done to me. Answer the phone
